What are we using your samples for? 

The samples you provide help us learn more about how to help keep kids healthy.

Saliva

  • Genetics: Provides information on trails that you inherited from your parents that effect how you grow and how your body responds to the environment and your overall health.

Urine

  • Hormones your bodies produce related to your stress levels, growth and development

  • Health markers that look at, for examples, if you have high sugar levels that can suggest diabetes

  • Contains things that you encounter everyday such as:

    • Chemicals found in your good packaging and personal care products

    • Nutrients from the things that you eat and drink

    • Metabolites from any medication you take

Teeth

  • Metal exposure (found in indoor items such as lead paint or outdoor items such as water, soil and air)

  • Nutrient markers from your diet such as calcium, and vitamin D

Hair

  • Metal exposure (indoor and outdoor, just like with your teeth)

  • Hormones your bodies produce, just like urine

Blood

  • Genetics, just like with your saliva

  • Nutrients about the foods you at and how your body processes them

  • Metabolism such as how your body makes energy from the good you eat and how your body is functioning

  • Immune system how your bodies are responding to things in your environment such as allergens and viruses
